Dieses Audit findet in zwei Phasen statt: dem Stufe 1-Audit und dem Stufe 2-Audit. Während Stufe 1 eine Dokumentenprüfung und die Bereitschaft für Stufe 2 prüft, wird bei Stufe 2 die Wirksamkeit des Informationssicherheitsmanagementsystem (ISMS) insgesamt geprüft. Zwischen Stufe 1 und Stufe 2 vergehen meistens ein paar Tage bzw. Wochen. Der Kunde bekommt auf diese Weise die Möglichkeit, Feststellungen aus Stufe 1 zu schließen.

Nach der Annexion des Königreiches Hannover durch Preußen wurde Hannover ab 1866 Provinzhauptstadt der Provinz Hannover und nach Auflösung Preußens im August 1946 Hauptstadt des Landes Hannover. Seit dessen Fusion mit den Freistaaten Braunschweig, Oldenburg und Schaumburg-Lippe im November 1946 ist Hannover niedersächsische Landeshauptstadt. Seit 1875 Großstadt, zählt sie heute mit über 545.000 Einwohnern zu den 15 einwohnerreichsten Städten Deutschlands.
